2019 NPM Conference Attendance Support Grant
Purpose: To support early career Māori researchers who intend to disseminate their research at a national or international conference leading to the potential publication of their research.
Eligibility: Māori students (post-graduate) and early career researchers (no more than 5 years post-doctorate) at one of NPM's 21 Partners.
Māori postgraduate students and staff employed at one of NPM’s Partner Institutions are eligible to apply but the priority focus of these awards is for career Māori researchers (who have completed substantive and independent research for the first time on or after 1 January 2013).
Preference is given to applicants who have not received a NPM Conference Attendance Support Grant in the past three years.
It is expected that the conference to be attended is within the year of award or no more than 12 months from award date.
Assessment of applications will take account of the following criteria:
- Quality and relevance of the conference abstract (including whether it is a keynote, featured presentation, invited, paper presentation, roundtable, poster etc);
- Quality and relevance of the conference to the NPM Research Strategy, NPM research themes and NPM vision of ‘Māori leading New Zealand into the future’;
- Benefit to the researcher’s career for disseminating at the conference including potential for additional outputs (such as refereed publication) and outcomes (such as improved research networks, new research pathways) following participation at the conference;
A completeness check of the application (copy of the applicant’s presentation title, abstract and proof of the acceptance of the applicant’s abstract by the conference organisers).
Value: up to $2,500 stipend per applicant.
Conference: Expected to be attended by November 2020 and meet the eligibility and award criteria.
