NPM Tumuaki Tuarua (Deputy Director) Professor Poia Rewi (Tūhoe, Ngāti Manawa, Tūhoe, Te Arawa) has been announced as the new CEO of Te Mātāwai.

Poia has been a long time Principal Investigator at NPM, is a key member of our Research Leadership Team and has led our Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori programme from the University of Otago, where he has most recently been Dean of Te Tumu - School of Māori, Pacific and Indigenous Studies.

NPM congratulates Poia on this significant appointment, and thank him for the leadership, scholarship, contribution and time he has given us over the years.  We acknowledge that Te Mātāwai will receive a valuable leader, taking on an important role, and one whose vision resonates with NPM.  We look forward to continuing to work together to advance outcomes for te reo Māori and Aotearoa New Zealand.
