more about us

Engineering PhD students, Haukapuanui (left) and Sonny Vercoe are working to help make marae more resilient to natural hazards.

Many of us are unaware of how information we share with government agencies, businesses and on the internet can be used and manipulated by others without our knowledge or consent. PhD researcher Ella Newbold is looking at hapū data and how to better protect it.

Neuroscientist Nicole Edwards is establishing her own lab at the University of Auckland and is eager to tautoko students interested in a career in brain research.

The Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga Māori (NPM) Futures Programme supports promising Māori senior undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral students as a means to growing an expert and capable Māori researcher workforce for Aotearoa New Zealand.

kanapu

Kanapu is a NPM initiative that was designed 'by Māori, for Māori' to ignite Māori talent and leadership in research, science and innovation (RSI) spaces. Kanapu means lightning. It sets the scene to strike at the obstacles that block Māori pathways and transform how Māori collaboratively engage through connecting Māori to Māori, retaining kaimahi and accelerating success. Haruru ana te ao – reverberation – is the consequence and transformation of the system-wide energy states across the RSI sector as Māori potential is enabled.
