Raumati intern: Edie Balme (Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama)

Project Summary: The primary purpose of this project is to complete a comprehensive review of literature available on grief and mourning in the Māori world and identify gaps in the literature. The literature review will inform development of a transferable mourning and grief model.

The intern will work primarily with NPM Pou Matarua, Professor Linda Waimarie Nikora, and other supervisory team members who hold expertise in tangihanga, death and grief.

Through the course of the project, the intern will learn how to be a member of a research team, will participate in NPM secretariat and network activities, become experienced in archival research techniques and co-authorship, and develop strategies for influencing audiences through planned dissemination.
