NPM founding co-director, Principal Investigator, University of Waikato academic and our International Research Advisory Board chair, Professor Linda Tuhiwai Smith (Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Porou) recently received an Honorary Doctor of Laws in a Special Convocation ceremony at the University of Winnipeg.



Dr Annette Trimbee, President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Winnipeg, said “Dr Smith continues to inspire scholars around the world, including here at UWinnipeg, where we recently introduced an Indigenous course requirement so that our students are exposed to Indigenous history and perspectives. For her decades of championing  Indigenous research and scholarship, The University of Winnipeg is proud to recognize Dr Smith with an Honorary Doctor of Laws”
