Tikanga Pākihi/Tikanga Māori: The Impact of Business Practices on Māori Organisations and their Communities

Project commenced:

The purpose of this research is to investigate what influences business practices have on Māori organisations and their communities. Current business ideology does not acknowledge or recognise tikanga Māori, nor does it differentiate between Māori and Pākehā business practices. The research team are examining the diversity of Māori organisations and their communities, and their capacity to contribute to the development of new knowledge.  This knowledge incites social, cultural, and political transformation and has the potential to build a foundation for a unique and emerging discipline.  A Māori research framework is being used throughout the research process, and the research intends to highlight that tikanga exists within Māori business.
